Nottingham/Nottinghamshire:
Many buyers think about West Bridgford (NG2) when they think of Nottingham. A beautiful high street filled with sophisticated brands, restaurants, and cocktail bars; surrounded by football stadiums and cricket pitches. This town is located a stone's throw away from the city centre and tram links. Below are a few other areas that are on my recommended list:
Southwell (NG25)- A tranquil town found in the outskirts of Nottinghamshire which offers a selection of beautiful independent pubs, as well as a bustling high street of shops and cafes. This town is also the home of two garden centres, historic landmarks, and countryside.
Beeston (NG9)- Located close to Nottingham city centre, this town is a hub for students, professionals, and families. Situated on the tram route into the city centre and surrounding areas, this town offers a cosmopolitan lifestyle. Over recent years, there has been vast regeneration within the centre and is well known for its small independent restaurants.
Mapperley (NG3)- Situated amongst many hills, this exclusive town offers a stylish high street, a local farm shop and garden centre and is surrounded by natural beauty. The local country park offers fantastic walks together with a coffee shop and play area.
Derby/Derbyshire:
When you think of Derbyshire, many buyers imagine towns like Ashbourne and Matlock Bath. Both are beautiful, historic and offer a quaint shopping and dining experience. There are many other areas that are also worth exploring:
Melbourne (DE73)- Located a stones throw from East Midlands Airport, this town attracts families and retirees. This market town offers a selection of classy shops, an array of independent restaurants and coffee shops, as well as having a courtyard style shopping area and a beautiful lake that you can stroll around. Of course, with a coffee and cake in your hand!
Belper (DE56) - The high street of Belper has been said to be one of the best in England! Surrounded by countryside and stone buildings, this market town is located within the Derwent Valley National Heritage Corridor. Belper has some fantastic schools and provides easy access to the Peaks and other attractions.
Tissington (DE6)- A stunning place to retire. This scenic village is located in the Derbyshire Dales and is surrounded by beauty. This is a small village with its own tearooms, gift and craft shops, as well as the well-known Tissington Trail. Here you can explore activities like bike riding and hiking just to name a few.
Loughborough/Leicestershire:
Woodhouse Eaves (LE11)- luxury pubs galore! This is a beautiful village located close to Quorn, Loughborough. Four stunning, independent pubs to choose from, as well as easy access to a selection of country parks including Bradgate Park, two golf courses and the grand positioning of Beaumanor Hall.
Newtown Linford (LE6) - Located a stones throw from Woodhouse Eaves, similar local attractions are easily accessible. Bradgate Park is situated here, alongside a picturesque street offering coffee shops, post office, farm shop, cricket club, primary school and popular pubs. Properties in this area offer a grand lifestyle and ample land.
Oakham (LE15) - Known for its pretty yet traditional high streets, Oakham offers a mixture of historic landmarks and stylish living. Here you can explore castles and museums, as well as quaint bookshops and tastes Warner's Traditional Sweet Shop. A farmers market takes place once a month and this town offers an abundance of boutique shops, delicious cafes, restaurants, and bars. Oakham is well known for its public school which also offers boarding facilities.
Birmingham:
Harborne (B17)- An affluent village situated next to Edgbaston which offers a real sense of luxury. Close to public schools in Edgbaston, this village hosts a range of up market supermarkets, alongside an array of small independent restaurants, cafes and boutiques. Alongside this, there's a farmers market and some quirky areas to explore including the Harborne Walkway.
Stirchley (B30)- Is well known for its array of available beers which you can enjoy at some local breweries and quaint bars. It's not just a place for alcohol lovers though! Here you can find some beautiful pastries, street food and independent shops. You are not short of greenery and the transport here to other parts of Birmingham is very accessible and is looking to continue to grow.
Moseley (B13) - This town is compared to some of the most sort after suburbs of London! Here you aren't short of entertainment and style. Local businesses, cafes, independent restaurants and festivals just to name a few. This is a great area to consider if you're looking for a bit of sophisticated fun, and on top of that, has been ranked as being one of the best places to live in the UK!
